Royal Cornwall Museum Summer Fun

Exhibition - Shark! 16 July – 10 September Guilty until proven innocent? Do sharks really deserve their reputation as monsters of the deep? Discover more about the power and elegance of these fascinating creatures in our fun-filled family exhibition.

Family Activity Centre Explore the drop-in family workshop area alongside the exhibition and take part in practical activities including making puppets and fishy mobiles. This supervised drop in Activity Centre opens Wednesday 27 July until Saturday 3 September.

Shark! Holiday Activities Events are being held on Tuesdays and Fridays, with a range of family activities on Wednesdays, see centre-pages calendar for more details.

Unless stated workshops take place in the Education Room from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm, repeated at 2 until 4 pm, and cost £2.50 per child. Places will be limited so advance booking is essential at the Royal Cornwall Museum Office 01872 272205 (Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm).

Shark Tours. A series of daily, free, drop-in gallery talks suitable for a family audience will take place, on the move, in the exhibition. Meet at the Activity Centre entrance at 2.30pm.

Up Close and Dangerous … Thursday 4 August An informal slide talk for families from a scuba diver’s point of view. Prepare to be enthralled by the underwater world, as international diver Susanna Webster gives a fascinating insight into the lives of a variety of marine creatures with attack or defensive mechanisms.

The Shark Trust Thursday 11 August An exciting interactive exhibit encompassing all things ‘shark’. Join the Great Egg Case Hunt, measure a Whale Shark and see what lives in our shark tank. Can you survive a close encounter with the Shark Trust?

Friend or Foe? Thursday 18 August Discover the truth behind the secret life of sharks. Through an interactive, hands-on demonstration learn the facts about one of nature’s most misunderstood masterpieces with Matt Slater from the Blue Reef Aquarium.
